Dr McIlhaney is a prominent obstetrician and gynecologist and the Founder/Chairman of the Medical Institute for Sexual Health, a pro-abstinence medical research organization he established in 1992.
He served on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and on the Advisory Committee to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In 1995, he left his private practice to work full-time with the Medical Institute for Sexual Health, as he realized the extraordinary magnitude of the STI epidemic. Since 1992 the Medical Institute has been a leading voice providing medically accurate, research-based sexual health information to diverse audiences, ranging from healthcare professionals to policymakers, parents and youth.
